Summary: The Procurement & Sourcing Specialist will play a key role in supporting the procurement process by sourcing, evaluating, and negotiating with suppliers to ensure our organization acquires high-quality goods and services at competitive prices. This position involves collaboration with various departments to meet operational needs while adhering to budgetary constraints.
Essential Functions (include but not limited to):
Key Responsibilities:
Sourcing:
- Conduct comprehensive market research to stay informed on fabric trends, innovations, technologies, manufacturing, and competitive pricing strategies for all products and categories.
- Lead the identification and sourcing of raw materials from global suppliers, establishing and nurturing strong relationships with suppliers, mills, and manufacturers worldwide.
- Evaluate and select vendors based on quality, reliability, cost, and production capacity, ensuring alignment with company standards.
- Negotiate agreements, pricing, and delivery terms with suppliers to secure the best outcomes for the company, analyzing costs for improvements and reductions.
- Monitor supplier performance closely, addressing any issues related to quality, delivery, or compliance in a timely manner.
- Maintain detailed records of costings, cost comparisons, and raw material details to ensure accuracy.
- Manage a vendor library with all product details from every vendor.
- Travel to domestic and/or international trade shows to discover new raw materials and suppliers.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Manage the sample development process, including the generation of BOMs and Tech Packs, and update them throughout the approval process.
- Communicate Tech Packs to vendors and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure production aligns with technical specifications.
- Verify prototypes throughout the development process, making technical corrections based on fit, aesthetics, performance, and comfort.
- Follow up on timely submissions of lab dips, strike-offs, knits, trims, packaging, etc., ensuring all approvals are obtained without affecting delivery.
- Ensure all products are tested for quality, both domestically and globally.
- Act as gatekeeper for the Time and Action Calendar, adding new projects, updating timelines, and ensuring projects are executed effectively.
- Communicate key calendar dates to internal teams and vendors, following up diligently.
- Launch products on planned dates, managing daily communications with global vendors.

Qualifications/Requirements:
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- HS Diploma or GED
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States and have IDs needed to verify.
- English proficient (reading, writing, speaking, comprehension)
- Computer savvy; proficient with Microsoft Office
Sensory Requirements: Should have working use of hearing and vision with or without the use of corrective lenses/hearing aids to be able to read paperwork, work on a computer screen for an extended period of time, and frequently speak on the phone.

Education/Experience/License Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree from accredited college in textiles, merchandising, fashion or closely related field.
- Proven experience in procurement and sourcing, preferably within the bedding or related industry.
- 5+ years’ experience in product development, research and development, or production/manufacturing; consumer durable goods highly preferred.
- 5+ years’ experience of sourcing materials and vendor research (international and domestic).
- 5+ years’ experience of proven successful project management.
- Strong negotiation skills and the ability to manage supplier relationships effectively.
- Understand styles and design trends in home furnishings and fashion. Experience within an active lifestyle brand is highly preferred. Familiarity with Bedgear branding and products is a plus.
- Knowledge of quality assurance processes and standards.
- Analytical mindset with proficiency in data analysis and reporting.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Must have a strong aesthetic sense and great eye for design.
Language Skills: English proficiency required (reading, writing, speaking, comprehension). Knowledge of an additional language(s) is a plus!
Mathematical Skills: Basic arithmetic and algebra
Reasoning Ability: Strong analytical skills to evaluate supplier proposals and assess market trends effectively. Capable of making data-driven decisions and identifying cost-saving opportunities while balancing quality and supplier reliability. Critical thinking and problem-solving skills are essential for navigating complex procurement scenarios and optimizing sourcing strategies. Excellent planning and problem-solving skills with limited resources; ability to effectively prioritize and project manage multiple assignments at any given time. Ability to use judgement to make important decisions.
