Summary: The Director of Manufacturing is responsible for overseeing BEDGEAR’s global manufacturing operations, with a specific focus on the production of mattresses and pillows across multiple locations. This role involves managing the Bill of Materials (BOM) and inventory control at all sites, ensuring that products meet BEDGEAR's high standards of quality. The Director will work closely with Product Development to create prototype mattresses and pillows and manage costs, performance, and environmental impact across all manufacturing locations.
Essential Functions (include but not limited to):
The Director is responsible for formulating policies and programs that guide BEDGEAR in maintaining and improving its competitive position and the profitability of the operation. To accomplish this, the Director must lead a team of managers responsible for departments that contribute to the manufacturing plan that is consistent with manufacturing, quality and safety procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Leadership & Strategy: Develop and implement long and short-term strategies for manufacturing operations across multiple facilities, including Rock Hill, SC, and Salt Lake City, UT. Establish and maintain world-class standards of manufacturing to deliver high-quality products to customers and end consumers.
- Production Management: Oversee the manufacturing of mattresses and pillows, ensuring production schedules are met and that products are produced to BEDGEAR’s quality standards. Collaborate with Product Development to create and refine prototype products.
- BOM & Inventory Control: Manage the Bill of Materials (BOM) and ensure accurate inventory control across all locations. Implement systems and processes to maintain optimal inventory levels and reduce waste.
- Cost & Efficiency: Evaluate and manage overhead and operational costs, developing strategies to improve productivity and reduce expenses while maintaining quality. Implement lean manufacturing principles to drive continuous improvement across all facilities.
- Environmental Responsibility: Develop and implement strategies to minimize waste and reduce the environmental impact of manufacturing operations. Ensure that all practices are in line with BEDGEAR’s commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility.
- Safety & Compliance: Ensure that all manufacturing processes comply with safety regulations and BEDGEAR’s internal safety protocols. Promote a culture of safety and continuous improvement within the manufacturing teams.
- Team Development: Lead, mentor, and develop a team of manufacturing managers and supervisors. Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous learning.
- Cross-Department Collaboration: Act as a liaison between manufacturing, Product Development, and other departments, ensuring seamless operations and the successful delivery of products.
- Innovation & Prototyping: Collaborate closely with Product Development to create and refine prototype mattresses and pillows, ensuring that new products meet BEDGEAR's standards for quality and performance.
- Performance Management: Implement performance management systems to track and improve efficiency, quality, and overall manufacturing performance across all locations.
- Cost Management: Oversee cost management initiatives across all locations, focusing on reducing waste and optimizing resource use while maintaining product quality.

Qualifications/Requirements:
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- HS Diploma or GED
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States and have IDs needed to verify
- English proficient (reading, writing, speaking, comprehension)
- Computer savvy; proficient with Microsoft Office
- Must be willing to travel up to 10% of the time
Sensory Requirements: Should have working use of hearing and vision with or without the use of corrective lenses/hearing aids to be able to read paperwork, work on a computer screen for an extended period of time, and frequently speak on the phone.

Education/Experience/License Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Business, or a related field. Master's degree is a plus.
- Proven experience in procurement and sourcing, preferably within the bedding or related industry.
- Strong negotiation skills and the ability to manage supplier relationships effectively.
- Familiarity with foam, fibers, threads, and boxes sourcing is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of quality assurance processes and standards.
- Analytical mindset with proficiency in data analysis and reporting.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Familiarity with Bedgear branding and products is a plus.
Language Skills: English proficiency required (reading, writing, speaking, comprehension). Knowledge of an additional language(s) is a plus!
Mathematical Skills: Basic arithmetic and algebra
Reasoning Ability: Solid understanding of branding and marketing communications strategies and tactics; excellent planning and problem-solving skills with limited resources; ability to effectively prioritize and project manage multiple assignments at any given time. Ability to use judgement to make important decisions.
Work Environment: Indoor office environment most times.
