Job Summary:

The Product Development & Global Sourcing Specialist is responsible for the successful execution of product design, development, and sourcing initiatives from concept through production. This role partners with Creative, Merchandising, Compliance, Quality, and global vendors to manage raw material sourcing, sample approvals, testing, and cross-functional project timelines. It demands strong aesthetic judgment, supplier relationship management, and the ability to drive cost-effective, innovative product solutions that meet BEDGEAR’s performance and quality standards.

Essential Functions (Included but not limited to):

Design & Innovation

• Collaborate with Creative to guide new product ideation and prototyping.
• Draft designs, develop concepts, and test prototypes, identifying issues early in the development process.
• Drive innovation by researching and integrating new technologies and materials.
• Capture feedback from fit and innovation meetings, communicating updates to vendors and internal teams.

Sourcing & Costing

• Source, counter-source, and negotiate costs for raw materials including foam, fibers, and fabrics.
• Analyze vendor performance and material cost efficiencies; write and manage POs for raw materials.
• Identify and onboard new suppliers while cross-sourcing existing products.

Product Development & Production

• Generate and maintain BOMs and tech packs; ensure production feasibility with vendors.
• Oversee sample development and approval cycle without impacting delivery targets.
• Track and manage timely submission of lab dips, strike-offs, trims, and packaging components.
• Conduct technical fit and quality reviews during prototype and pre-production stages.

Sampling & Approvals

• Lead sample reviews for all pre-production components; ensure alignment with tech pack specifications.
• Coordinate all sample, component, and color approvals; communicate approvals via tags to factories.

Testing & Compliance

• Facilitate quality testing with internal compliance and vendor partners (domestic and international).
• Conduct competitive fit testing in-market to ensure product fit across non-BEADGEAR mattresses.

Administrative & Project Management

• Act as gatekeeper of the Time & Action calendar; update timelines, add new projects, and manage key deliverables.
• Communicate critical dates to vendors and internal teams; follow through on execution and delivery.
• Maintain raw material cost analysis and project data accuracy in relevant systems.
• Support department special projects and ad hoc initiatives.

Skills:

• Strong understanding of textiles, home furnishings, and lifestyle design trends.
• Proficient in BOM and tech pack creation; ERP and cost-tracking software (e.g., NetSuite).
• Fluent in Microsoft Office; strong data entry and organizational skills.
• Excellent written/verbal communication and cross-cultural vendor management.
• Skilled in sourcing, negotiation, and market-fit evaluation.

Minimum Requirements:

• High school diploma or GED.
• Must be at least 18 years old and authorized to work in the U.S.
• Proficient in English (reading, writing, speaking); strong math and reasoning skills.
• Must be extremely detail-oriented, organized, and process-driven.
• Able to prioritize multiple projects in a deadline-driven environment.

Preferred Education/Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in textiles, merchandising, fashion, or related field preferred.
• 5–7 years’ experience in product development, sourcing, or manufacturing (consumer durable goods strongly preferred).
• Experience with international and domestic vendor research and procurement.
• Familiarity with quality assurance processes, testing protocols, and compliance standards.
• Proficiency in Mandarin Chinese is a plus.
