Hours Available: M-F 8:30am-5:30pm EST (1-hour lunch break)
Hourly Pay Range: $20 - 25 (Actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law)

Summary: The Product Development Assistant will play a supporting role in the product development team by assisting with sampling, production, and administrative tasks.

The PD Assistant supports the PD team by managing day-to-day tasks in production, assisting with sample checking and vendor coordination, and ensuring that delivery timelines are met. They are also responsible for entering and maintaining all PD SKU fields in the ERP system (NetSuite). This role plays a critical part in ensuring the efficient flow of product development and production processes, maintaining quality standards, and providing administrative and operational support to the department.


Key Responsibilities (include but not limited to):

Production Support

  • Daily follow up with vendors on submit dates for all production components and sample approvals and updating these dates in WIP report daily.
  • Communicate daily with vendors to ensure timely delivery of production samples.
  • Assist in opening, marking samples, measuring, comparing with approved standards, updating BOM/TP and sending comments to vendors.
  • Assist in the approval of packaging and labeling of all products to meet production schedules.
  • Assist in updating and maintaining label guides for both domestic and international markets, based on production comments.
  • Assist in creating and updating tech packs for all products.
  • Facilitate product testing with vendors to ensure compliance with internal and external standards
  • Update final pricing and product dimensions (after final approvals) into NetSuite (ERP)
  • Work closely with the Product Development Team to ensure all projects are handed over with complete information in a timely manner.
  • Act as a liaison between internal teams and external partners, communicating updates and resolving issues as they arise.
  • Creating and maintaining libraries for all production fabrics/trims/labels/packaging etc.
  • Assist PD Specialists in working with Quality team as well as factories to resolve any quality issues.
  • Assist PD Specialists in collaborating with stakeholders to address and resolve issues with product approvals.
  • Coordinate invoices, create PO’s and work with the finance department to ensure factory payments

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • HS Diploma or GED
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States and have IDs needed to verify.
  • English proficient (reading, writing, speaking, comprehension)
  • Computer savvy; proficient with Microsoft Office

Education/Experience/License Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree from accredited college in textiles, merchandising, fashion, or closely related field preferred, but not required.
  • 1+ years’ experience in product development, procurement, and sourcing, preferably within the bedding or related industry.
  • 1+ years’ experience in research or production/manufacturing; consumer durable goods.
  • 1+ years’ experience of sourcing materials and vendor research (international and domestic) highly preferred
  • Excellent follow-up, cross-functional department skills
  • Ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ideal candidate will have a strong aesthetic sense and great eye for design.

MUST HAVE:

Strong organizational and data management skills, process orientation, strong follow up skills, interpersonal skills, collaboration, passion for products and product development.

Sensory Requirements: Should have working use of hearing and vision with or without the use of corrective lenses/hearing aids to be able to read paperwork, work on a computer screen for an extended period of time, and frequently speak on the phone. Must also have strong eye for color to be able to validate lab dips and sampling.
