As a Sewing Operator, you must have a high attention for detail as well as steady hand-eye coordination. We are looking for team members who take pride in the efficiency & quality of their work and have a driven and focused attitude.

 

Our facility operates under the lean philosophy that everyone should be cross-trained and be able to do virtually every job on the production floor. With that said, some of those items are listed below:

 

Job Functions:

  • Operates industrial single needle sewing machine to close filled pillow shells in accordance with set QA standards. Requires constant handling of pillows and guiding through needle track. Position requires constant sitting and use of floor pedal to control needle speed
  • Be familiar with a single needle sewing machine and have knowledge of basic sewing machine functions
  • Possess the ability to use back tack techniques as well as push/pull techniques
  • Meet or exceed piece rate goals while producing a quality product
  • Use of snips are required to cut excess thread tails
  • Stitch line must be straight and close to piping on pillow shells
  • Willing and able to help in other areas of the production department when needed
  • Sewing Operators must meet all qualifications and requirements of a General Labor employee. Sewing Operators will be asked to perform General Labor duties throughout the production department when needed.

 

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • HS Diploma or GED
  • Experience in operations with a factory environment preferred (1 year)
  • Experience operating industrial sewing machine preferred (2 years)
  • For operation of forklift or pallet jack, must be able to pass written and operational skills test
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States and have IDs needed to verify
  • Must be willing to work mandatory overtime when needed
  • Must be willing and able to submit to pre-employment and random drug testing
  • Must be able to pass all safety training tests

Sensory Requirements: Ability to utilize senses such as touch, hearing and vision. If required to wear prescription lenses while operating a vehicle, must also use while operating factory machinery. Keen hearing necessary to hear surroundings while operating machinery.

 

Work Environment: Factory setting, large open area, exposure to heavy machinery and motorized vehicles, exposed to extreme temperatures, loud and fast paced environment, and occasional stressful situations.

 

Language Skills: English proficiency (read, write, speak, comprehend)

 

Mathematical Skills: Basic Arithmetic
