Job Summary

The Logistics Manager is responsible for managing all transportation functions related to inbound and outbound logistics. This includes vendor and carrier relationships, rate negotiations, 3PL oversight, process improvement, and logistical project management for domestic and international markets. This role leads a team of coordinators and collaborates cross-functionally to improve efficiency, customer experience, and the overall freight strategy for the organization.

Essential Functions (include but not limited to):

  • Provide leadership, support, and guidance to coordinators.
  • Manage carrier and freight forwarder relationships, including rate negotiations.
  • Measure, manage, and improve operations performance for both inbound and outbound freight.
  • Build and promote strong vendor relationships with carriers and other product vendors.
  • Build organizational capability through continuous improvement activity; establish plan to improve existing conditions and processes.
  • Administer 3PL partners in conjunction with Distribution Manager; includes service levels, procedures, and invoice review.
  • Consult on customer freight charges and pricing programs.
  • Improve “last mile” consumer experience.
  • Create logistical plans for customer rollouts.
  • Assess and recommend ideal shipping methods, routings, and carriers.
  • Ensure that shipments are delivered to customers per their specific expectations.
  • Execute project management for event logistics support (e.g., trade shows).
  • Execute project management for logistical entry into new international markets.

 

Skills:

  • Strong leadership and coaching abilities.
  • Advanced understanding of transportation operations (domestic and international).
  • Excellent negotiation and vendor relationship skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; NetSuite knowledge preferred.
  • Ability to build cost models, assess freight programs, and manage 3PLs.
  • Strong project and time management skills.
  • Working knowledge of Lean or continuous improvement tools.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. and able to provide documentation.
  • Fluent in English (reading, writing, speaking, comprehension).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and general computer usage.

Preferred Education/Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred; technical or supply chain-related field highly desirable.
  • Master’s degree is a plus.
  • 5+ years’ experience in transportation or logistics, including international logistics.
  • Experience with NetSuite or other ERP systems.
  • Exposure to Lean or CI methodologies is advantageous.
  • Multilingual skills are a plus.

 

Work Environment

  • Primary: Indoor office in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
  • Secondary: May include warehouse and manufacturing areas.
